Afro Cuban Rumba is one of the most popular styles of music in the world.

Conga will be the instrument of focus, although timbales, bongos and other smaller, yet significant instruments will also be considered. We will concentrate primarily on the basic patterns of a series of different Rumba rhythms that include Yambu, Guaguanco, Columbia, Conga, Pilon and Mozambique. In addition we will take a general look into the Yoruba culture and how its rhythms are performed with the Bata drum, as well as instruction on proper tuning. All levels welcome.
