Doug Sole and Soul Drums in the mediaDoug facilitated a very very powerful and dynamic session which helped our participants to enhance their understanding of leadership and the human connections upon which leadership is created. Michel Bourdon It was excellent! In short order you were able to transform our very diverse group of 65 soloists comprised of members of the Board of Governors, senior & middle management and physician leaders into a percussion symphony extraordinaire. We learnt, through a fun experience, effective communication skills, particularly about listening! We understood that individuals in an organization are valued for the diversity they bring around a common beat...this was an excellent session, enjoyed by all & provided a high energy, interactive activity to get our day going. ...I wanted to personally thank you for "rescuing" us at the last minute. Your activity was brilliant; it really brought together everyone and all the messages we were delivering. Baycrest still echoes... Left a very strong positive impression... Moved by the event, asking me when the next one is... Saw potential for resident programs, staff education and development. Dear Sinsoulfully Yours, Our event was very successful. I heard many positive comments regarding your portion of our event - in fact I heard no negative ones, and with my group I would hear it, if they felt that way I really appreciated your style and approach and the ability to incorporate the business and personal application to the "beating drum" People not only "got it" but were pleasantly surprised at how focused to your message they were able to be for the 2 hours, and how relaxed they felt at the end when you had us imagine a favourite place with a favourite person and listening to the silence and nature around us - a good touch Well done, Doug. Don Epp - Campbell Soup Company Ltd. Great article! Thanks again for your presence at the Institute on Addiction Studies. You were a great hit and accomplished exactly what we wanted; to get everyone together for a week of unity and learning. Kelly Brownbill - Planning Committee Institute on Addiction Studies Doug: What a great article - I read it this morning and it was very timely since the Ministry of Health just came up with the money for your session in November (I am sure Sue has contacted you about this) - it will be great for them to make reference to it... take care Maureen (Mo) McKenna - mentoring with MOmentum Ltd. Way to go is all I can say! Now that I am retired this year, it may well be worth it to organize something like that around here. I , agree, that drumming is a great stress reliever and the feeling of playing with others is awesome!! All the best... Linda Males (retired teacher and grandma!) Hi Doug, Congratulations on the wonderful article in the Globe! I have participated in several of your fantanstic retreats at Hockley Valley & hope to do it again this fall - this time with my 26 year old daughter who has come to love drumming too. Could you please let me know the dates of your fall retreat? Also I am living up in Muskoka this summer & would love to attend your drum circles on Wednesday nights. Could you give me some information on the exact location & times? I don't have my drums here but I can bring an empty water jug along. Thanks & hope to see you there soon! Julie Vigars Hi Doug, Thanks for keeping me in the loop, and for the Globe and Mail article. Congrats on your wonderful success. Your achievements are not the result of good luck, but of dedicated hard work, talent and love of music and of people. It was a privilege for me to have met you those five years when I was living in the Burlington area, and it will remain a high-light of my time there. The two retreats I took in with you and Gary Diggins at the Hockley Valley ecological centre are among my fondest memories. I miss you and the "scene", and feel teribly isolated out here in New Brunswick We have received many blessings out here, and I am very busy with my Native drumming and drum-making and teaching, and with all the opening ceremonies I am being asked to do, but I miss the camaraderie and the opportunity to get in a large group and learn new things. Anyway my friend, Blessings to you, and may the Sunshine you spread, come back to bring Joy and Gladness to you always. Carlos Gomes - Fredericton, N.B. Doug: I cannot thank you and your group for the most excellent drumming session that you put on for the 24 Hour Spin. Words cannot explain the experience I get from your sessions. It gave me a more energy then I could have imagined to complete my solo 24 hr spin. I have enjoyed you for all three times that you have performed at the Hersey Centre and I know all the spinners around me where getting into a great head space which is nice when you backside is in so much pain. Thank you very much! David - Gears 24 Hour Spinathon Participant Particiapants at Community Sevices Department Regional Niagara Conference: November 22, 2005 "THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I feel good. I feel connected. I feel like there are many more like-minded people on our extended team than I previously believed. I learned to remember that CHANGE starts with me. Truly, thanks". "This has been a wonderful opportunity for the individuals that work in this care-giving industry to come together in fellowship, to be inspired to do better in our work environments, to not always point fingers but to take some accountability. These workshop opportunities do good for our souls, our minds, because we are all one trying to help the seniors and their families in our communities throughout the Niagara Region." "Awesome...my heart and soul were in perfect harmony." Congratulations on a job well done. Carol Rudel |
