A warmth, sensitivity, and articulation reminiscent of calfskin all characterize Rennaisance heads. These heads have a very warm and tonal sound that’s great for melodic expression and affords a wider, more balanced sound spectrum for tympani, snares, toms, and bass drums in any drumming application.
For snare drums and timbales, the textured surface provides excellent stick and brush response that will not degrade under harsh playing. For tom-toms, Renaissance combines the warmth and depth of laminated heads, the clarity and response of coated heads, with the resonance and projection of clear heads. For bass drums, Rennaisance creates a deep, round sound with a low fundamental and moderate attack. This combination allows a low pitch and high degree of control over decay as tuning and a variety of muffling techniques to modify the pitch and attack in acoustic and mic’d situations.

With a warm stick attack and controlled high frequencies the Skyntone™ snare drumhead has a warm gut-snare sound even when paired with standard wire snares. In a concert setting the slightly subdued articulation makes it perfect for live concert halls where metal snare drums generally sound too sharp and tinny.
