The Meinl Artist Series Luis Conte signature bongo drums are a great complement to any percussion setup. Their shells are made of wood from rubber trees and are adorned with True Skin cowhide heads that deliver great feel and warm tones. The bongos also feature black powder-coated traditional style hardware and a natural finish. Its traditional style woodblock connection between the two shells is what Luis prefers.

Meinl Darbukas are made in the tradition of the original, esoteric goblet-shaped drums found in music from Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Southern Asia. Meinls darbuka drums are constructed from thin shells in various metals, each metal giving the different models their special timbre. The head is secured and tuned with external rings set close to the shell, in the Turkish-style. Light yet powerful, the darbukas have a deep full bass. They are well suited for high-pitched snapping sounds as well as a wide range of articulated “doum” and “tak” strokes. These Turkish style hand drums feature fat lows and ringing highs with a wide range between.

“I wanted a wide spectrum!” comments Luis Conte. “The shorter bars deliver great high pitched sounds. I can get a full and bright chime sound from the medium and low pitched bars. They sound perfect especially in the studio.”
